Some recent work.
I had a little break this week so I took the time to look through some recent work from the past few months.
Above is Cecilia Marchesini of Cecilia’s Kitchen on Merrimon Avenue and her 11-year-old son Matias Diaz. She was a cover for the Asheville Citizen-Times Scene Magazine.
Masterful artist and map maker Mike Reagan impressed me with his lifetime of published commercial art and personal art work. He was the subject of a recent story for Bold Life Magazine.
It was quite a challenge to photograph Ron Lane and his impressive China Collection. He has impeccable taste in china, so much so that it was difficult to walk through his living room to turn on his beautiful chandelier.
Artist extraordinaire Melissa Terrezza for Verve Magazine.
Amazing
I was inspired by competitive runner Charles Dotson, 89 yrs. A man with a great attitude about life and keeping healthy. Because of his encouraging words, I started running on a treadmill at my health club again and I feel great. Thanks Charles. And thanks to WNC Magazine for the assignment!
Joyce Rousch Mason
I photographed Joyce Rousch Mason for WNC Magazine last winter. This selfless individual became the first person in the U.S. to donate a kidney to a stranger.
Ramps for The Local Palate Magazine
I recently photographed Ramps (an indigenous wild onion) at Asheville’s The Marketplace restaurant for a story written by Marketplace chef and ramp expert William Dissen. The Local Palate is based in Charleston, SC and features great food of the South. Below is gnocchi with a ramp pesto.
Asheville Citizen-Times Scene Covers
Thanks to Asheville Scene editor Jess McCuan for assigning some recent Asheville Scene Magazine covers. The magazine has updated it’s coverage of local food, art and music and it looks great. Here is a sampling.
Recent food shootings
Photographed a few beautiful dishes at Posana and Roux for Scene Magazine and a portrait of Reza of Rezas Restaurant.
New Work
Last weekend I photographed the “NeoClassic Tangerine” Local Stylist Competition on Walnut Street in front of 5 Walnut Wine Bar. The Tangerine Ball pre-party featured models wearing fashions from local designers and stylists. The Tangerine Ball events benefit The Asheville Area Arts Council. The photos were for the Asheville Citizen-Times.
I also enjoyed photographing and talking about art and music with local artist Galen Bernard at his studio in the River Arts District. His eclectic taste in music includes jazz pianist Keith Jarrett who happens to be one of my favorite jazz artists.
