Asheville poet Elaine Bleakney wanted a new portrait  for the launch of her new book  ”For Another Writing Back”.  Bleakney’s meditative and searching poems artfully assemble not a linear narrative, but an evocative consideration of a life.” –  Publishers Weekly.  Samples of her artful work can be read on her web site. Elainebleakney.com

Below Elaine is artist Mark Bettis. His captivating, multilayered abstracts can be seen at his new studio/gallery in the Cotton Mill Studios in Asheville.

A sampling of recent work

Shane Parish is an Asheville based master guitarist with eclectic tastes ranging from ragtime jazz to improvised world music. We met at Isis restaurant/bar/music venue in West Asheville recently for a shoot….. Pictured below Shane is a portion of a food shoot at fine dining restaurant Bull and Beggar in the River Arts District….. The food photos on the wonderfully red tables were taken at Mayfel’s restaurant in downtown Asheville. Breakfast on the back patio is very reminicent of brunch in the French Quarter of New Orleans….. I photographed Steel drum musician/composer, Jonathan Scales in Pack Square for an Asheville Scene Magazine cover. He was a featured musician in the Goombay festival. Not a week goes by without seeing the inspired and hard working musician’s name and his band, Jonathan Scales Fourcestra listed playing at some venue here in Asheville….. Also for the Citizen-Times, I photographed Kimball Davies, 59, who is Homeward Bound’s 1,000th client to be housed. After living in her car for nine months, she finally found housing in Woodfin through Homeward Bound’s Pathways to Permanent Housing program. With her dog, Magic, a 10 yr old Lab and Akita mix.
